Other than the Patriots, who took even more control of the
top seed, there were two huge winners in the AFC playoff
race Sunday: the Bengals and Chiefs.Cincinnati and Kansas
City both went into Week 11

in postseason contention, but their wins over NFC foes New
Orleans and Seattle, respectively, put them on firmer
ground for Week 12 and beyond.MORE: Must-see Week 11 photos

updated look at the current NFL playoff scenario:AFC (who
would be in) 1. Patriots (8-2). They just finished a sweep
of fellow reigning AFC division champions and current AFC
division leaders. Theyre a full game up with tiebreakers in
hand, which willallowthem at least one mulligan. Whats

Broncos (7-3). They fell into a first-place tie in the AFC
West following a shocker in St. Louis, and areonly up
because they beat Kansas City earlier. They need to rebound
quickly from theirinjuries and a lifele s performance with
a tough two-week stretch ahead. Whats left: vs. MIA, at
KC, vs. BUF, at SD, at CIN, vs. OAK.3. Bengals (6-3-1).
They did a 180 from that awful Week 10 home lo s to the

New Orleans in the Superdome. With it, they pushed
Cleveland from first to worst and retook the AFC North
lead. Whats left: at HOU, at TB, vs. PIT, at CLE, vs.
DEN.4. Colts (6-4). Their lo ses to New England and Denver
really hurt their chances of a top-two seed. The lo s to
the Patsalso caused them to even fall behind Cincinnati,
which they shut out earlier. Whats left: vs. JAX, vs.
WAS, at CLE, vs. HOU, at DAL, at TEN.5. Chiefs (7-3). They
held their ground as the top wild card, their exactposition
in last years playoffs. They are now setting their sights
on trumping Denver for the division lead in two weeks.
Whats left: at OAK, vs. DEN, at ARI, vs. OAK, at PIT, vs.
SD.6. Steelers (7-4). They go into their open week a half-
game ahead of a four-team pack for the second wild card and
a hair behind the Bengals in the North. They hope to return
witha much healthier defense to complement their balanced
offense. They havetough finish that includes a pair with
the Bengals that may determine the division. Whats left:

(who would be in) 1. Cardinals (9-1). Another week,
another solid yet unspectacular victory that keeps them
rolling toward the top seed. They have now opened a three-
game lead in the West, but they also have four division
games remaining. Whats left:

chances to win in Arizonabut squandered them and now are a

about just holding off the Packers in the North. Whats

Eagles (7-3). The NFC East leaders got clipped before they
could fly out of the gate in Green Bay, but they still are
in a familiar position. They know the goal is to take care
of busine s twice against the Cowboys. Whats left: vs.
TEN, at DAL, vs. SEA, vs. DAL, at WAS, at NYG.4. Falcons
(4-6). They hold a slim lead in the South thanks to an
upset win in New Orleans in Week 1 and a recent two-game
winning streak. Thisteam isn't good at holding leads,
however, so its in a most precarious position

Whats left: vs. CLE, vs. ARI, at GB, vs. PIT, at NO, vs.
CAR.5. Packers (7-3). They had to turn in back-to-back 50-
point performances just to push into the top wild-card
spot, but they should feel good about their chances of
overtaking Detroit for another division crown. Whats left:
at MIN, vs. NE, vs. ATL, at BUF, at TB, vs. DET.6. Cowboys
(7-3). They held on to the second wild card while enjoying
a well-timed open week. They must maintaintheir momentum in
November so they can be in position to finish better
against division foes in December. Whats left: at NYG,
