This was actually one of my first primary aims when joining Jagex, and we found that the answer was yeswe could place our code on RuneScape gold consoles. Making it technically possible is one thing, however can the platform holders take a look at the free-to-play version? Well, that's a very good point, since that's where we're facing challenges at this time and these are the topics of discussion we are having with platform holders. My goal is that there'll be a completely free game on all the consoles out there, where we preserve the present free-to-play version. I believe that is the place where the business should proceed, but I do not think that is where they want it to proceed, given that everything which goes on WiiWare, PSN and XBLA comes with a price tag on it in some form.

Therefore I think that the free-to-play games will probably be charged at a nominal fee, and that means you pay to download it if you want, pay to get the top edition of the game. That is the thinking at the moment, though matters are very much up in the air. But of course, my preference is going to be to lobby these companies, to let them know that they will need to catch up with today's tastes and supply absolutely free games if you would like to compete in this area.

How much luck are you having in pitching the free-to-play version to each platform holder? I really can not go into specifics; I would not like to discuss individual companies while we are still discussing things and while nothing was set in stone yet. Former Jagex CEO Geoff Iddison reported he wanted to merge the subscription version with micropayments. How do you really feel about the idea? I don't think you can take a game like Runescape and retrofit microtransactions into it. The game's just too large, and I don't think that it would add value for our gamers. Obviously that system may be remunerative, but I think that it would cost a player encounter too far up.

Why would you think free-to-play models are so closely associated with MMOs? I think that lots of men and women believe an MMO means you're likely to be spending a substantial quantity of time on a item, and so I believe that the free-to-play version compliments that more because it allows gamers to ask'do I want to spend a large quantity of time on this'. You've previously mentioned your aspirations to expand into the Asian markets, exactly how is that progressing?

The technology is in place now; Runescape can support various distinct languages now. Our next step is a commercial one. We're considering where next; make sure it eastern Europe, Asia, South America, etc. The honest answer; the jury's still out on this one. Develop's interview with Mark Gerhard comes within our special collection of interviews with a number of cheap RS gold the world's largest and most renowned independent developers. It gives stats regarding time played for your longest-playing F2Per and a few info about moving on consoles, but nothing'important' that has not been at mentioned in the past at least temporarily.
