The highly anticipated Diablo IV Season 12, officially
named Season of Slaughter, is just around the corner—
kicking off on March 11th and lasting for about 7 weeks
as a transitional season leading up to the Lord of Hatred
DLC. This season brings a wave of exciting updates
centered on "slaughter joy", with three core mechanics
that redefine your adventure in Sanctuary, each designed
to amplify the fun of intense combat
Become the Butcher
You can embody the iconic Diablo boss, the Butcher,
unlocking powerful exclusive skills (including his
signature hook ability) that grant you boss-level combat
power. This transformation is available in all in-game
scenarios, from the open world and PVP zones to Dungeons,
letting you experience the thrill of overwhelming
slaughter. Unlocking it is simple: complete the initial
Seasonal quests, and you’ll gain the ability to
transform. Later, you can accumulate progress by slaying
monsters or use Seasonal Currency to exchange for
transformation items, allowing you to trigger the Butcher
form quickly. For advanced players, unlocking Torment VI
difficulty unlocks the "Bloodied Sigils" — activating it
sends the Butcher into an endless pursuit state,
increasing the challenge but guaranteeing drops of
exclusive Seasonal Gear.
Killstreak System
In Diablo 4 S12 , the Killstreak System which replaces
the previous Sanctification mechanism as the core reward
source. This system encourages fast monster clearing,
creating a combat rhythm of "high attack speed + high
clearing efficiency" to significantly enhance your
looting and leveling experience. The core rule is
straightforward: continuously slaying monsters
accumulates your Killstreak count and charges the
Killstreak bar, which resets only if you stop dealing
damage or die (dying resets your count and forfeits all
accumulated rewards). There are 5 tiers of Killstreak,
from Killstreak (basic) to Carnage (max), with higher
tiers offering more generous Experience and Seasonal
Renown rewards when interrupted.
New Item System
Headlined by Bloodied Items. Bloodied Gear is a new
Seasonal item quality that can stack with Ancient
quality, featuring exclusive "Bloodied Affixes" deeply
linked to the Killstreak system. Weapon Affixes grant
effects like Berserk status, skill cooldown reset, and
resource regeneration for every set number of monsters
slain. Armor Affixes increase Movement Speed, Critical
Strike Chance, and reduce resource consumption with each
Killstreak tier (max tier grants 35% Movement Speed and
40% Critical Strike Chance). Accessory Affixes boost
Experience gain and Item Drop Rate during Killstreak to
speed up your Seasonal progress. Additionally, 5 new
Unique Items drop from Butcher's Den bosses, three of
which are usable by all classes. The other two are multi-
class Uniques.
